In a meeting with Engr. Romy M. Diaz, Division Head from LWUA Institutional Development Service last May 12, 2023, PPCWD General Manager Walter J. Laurel shared his vision of making ABACUS, PPCWD’s in-house utility software system, available free of charge to all interested local water districts in need of an efficient system for their commercial services. ABACUS stands for Advanced Billing and Collection Utility System and serves as PPCWD’s all-in-one program for billing and collection. It was developed by PPCWD’s very own MIS Section under the Office of General Manager.

ABACUS simplifies multiple data and collection processes from data entry to a fast and reliable data exchange with its consumers in full compliance with PPCWD’s utility rules and regulations. The software was launched in February of this year and has been in use by the PPCWD Main Office since.

ABACUS is integral in the services offered in the PPCWD Mobile App providing convenience and enabling consumers to monitor their account status, check their current bill, and keep track of due dates and disconnection dates. To date, the PPCWD Mobile App has a download record close to 5,000.

The initiative to share the said software at no cost is in part of PPCWD’s commitment to providing assistance to developing water districts in line with the President’s mandate to improve water services for all Filipinos.
