April 28, 2023- PPCWD successfully inaugurated its 30 million liters per day (MLD) Capacity Ultraviolet Water Disinfection Facility. The ceremony was held at Bgy. Iwahig, and was attended by the PPCWD Board of Directors headed by its Chairman, Atty. Winston T. Gonzales, with the members of the Board Dir. Edgardo A. Palanca, Dir. Richard B. Arambulo, Dir. Melrose O. Tan, Dir. Melinda T. Callejo, and General Manager Walter J. Laurel, along with PPCWD management and staff.

The Inauguration Ceremony was also graced by Puerto Princesa City Mayor, Hon. Lucilo R. Bayron, BuCor Director General Gregorio P. Catapang Jr., CESE, Department of Justice Assistant Secretary Francis John L. Tejano, IPPF Superintendent Gary Garcia, City Councilor Rolando Amurao, and Texin Inc.’s Josh Flores.

The UV Disinfection System provides bacteriological and organic compound disinfection to the water treatment process on top of the water chlorination treatment. The Montible and Lapu Lapu River Sources utilize this system after the physical and chemical treatment processes.

The state of the art UV disinfection lamps produce a high-density broad-spectrum UV light killing 99.9% of bacteria and other harmful organic compounds ensuring delivery of safe and potable water to the consumers of Puerto Princesa City.
