Originally established to supply Barangay Luzviminda and the Bureau of Corrections (CIW), the Sta. Lucia Water Source Facilities has undergone massive expansion to become a cornerstone of Puerto Princesa City’s rural water system. Inaugurated in March 2025, the upgraded complex represents a major leap forward in climate-resilient infrastructure.

To ensure a consistent and reliable supply of clean drinking water—particularly by addressing high turbidity levels during the rainy season—the facility is equipped with state-of-the-art treatment technologies. It features a modern Water Treatment Plant capable of processing 1 million liters per day (1 MLD), paired with an advanced UV Disinfection Facility that guarantees the water remains safe and potable for all consumers.

A defining feature of the Sta. Lucia facility is its commitment to environmental sustainability and renewable energy. The site is powered by an 18.7 KW grid-tie solar array for general operations, alongside a dedicated 15HP/10KW direct solar pumping system. This innovative integration significantly lowers operational expenses, minimizes the district’s carbon footprint, and reinforces PPCWD’s adaptability to climate change.

Today, this modernized facility proudly provides uninterrupted, safe water access to the residents of Brgy. Luzviminda, Brgy. Mangingisda, and the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Brgy. Sta. Lucia.
