The San Jose (Pump 13) facility is a highly optimized, multi-functional hub in Puerto Princesa City’s urban water distribution network. Originally operating as a standard groundwater pumping station, the site underwent a massive modernization project and was inaugurated in August 2021 as a comprehensive, energy-efficient water management complex.

To maximize efficiency and ensure strong water pressure for consumers, the facility operates on a smart, schedule-based system. During off-peak hours, the deepwell pumping station extracts groundwater to fill the site’s dedicated water reservoir and supply the neighboring area. Then, during peak demand hours when the community needs water the most, the advanced booster station activates to push the stored water out into the distribution network with optimal pressure.

A major highlight of the 2021 upgrade is the integration of a 30kW Grid-tied solar power system. By harnessing renewable solar energy to help power the heavy machinery required for pumping and boosting, PPCWD significantly reduces its reliance on the traditional power grid.

The station is also equipped with a UV Disinfection System.

This modernization not only lowers the district’s operational expenses and carbon footprint but also transforms the San Jose Pump 13 station into a highly resilient and reliable lifeline for the surrounding urban communities.
