The Lapu-Lapu River serves as the primary lifeline for Puerto Princesa City’s urban water network. Nestled within our protected local watersheds, this vital surface water source provides the consistent, high-volume raw water necessary to sustain the city’s daily demands.
As the main artery feeding the state-of-the-art Lapu-Lapu 30MLD Water Treatment Plant, the river is carefully monitored and managed to ensure optimal flow and ecological balance year-round. While the Montible River acts as our strategic reserve during the dry season, the Lapu-Lapu River remains the foundational year-round source for the city’s central supply.
PPCWD works continuously alongside local environmental agencies to protect the Lapu-Lapu watershed from degradation. Securing and preserving this natural surface water source is not just an infrastructure priority; it is a critical environmental commitment to ensure that future generations of Puerto Princesans will always have access to safe, sustainable, and reliable water.
