Established in 2010 alongside the tapping of the Irawan River (Campo Uno Source), the Irawan Water Treatment Facilities represent a benchmark in operational excellence and sustainable engineering for Puerto Princesa City. This vital complex is designed with a highly adaptable, dual-capacity system to ensure a continuous supply of safe drinking water regardless of weather conditions.

A defining feature of the Irawan facility is its remarkable energy efficiency. Under normal conditions, when the raw water from the Irawan River is within safe turbidity parameters, the facility operates at a robust 25 Million Liters per Day (25 MLD) capacity. During this phase, the facility utilizes a fully gravity-fed distribution system, requiring absolutely no pumping costs to deliver clean water to the city’s network.

To combat the challenges of the rainy season, the complex is also equipped with a dedicated 18 MLD Water Treatment Plant. When heavy rains cause the raw water to reach high turbidity levels, this specialized 18 MLD system immediately takes over. It employs advanced filtration and treatment processes to clarify the water, guaranteeing that the final output always meets strict safety and quality standards before it reaches the consumers.

By seamlessly transitioning between the 25 MLD gravity-fed system and the 18 MLD high-turbidity treatment plant, the Irawan Facilities stand as a resilient, cost-effective, and highly reliable cornerstone of Puerto Princesa’s urban water infrastructure.
