The Lapu-Lapu 30MLD Water Treatment Plant stands as a cornerstone of Puerto Princesa City’s modern water infrastructure. Inaugurated in June 2022 as the flagship facility of the Water Supply Improvement Project (WSIP) Phase II, this state-of-the-art complex was designed to decisively avert water supply shortages and meet the demands of our rapidly growing city.
Sourced by the pristine Lapu-Lapu and Montible Rivers, the plant has the capacity to process and deliver an additional 30 million liters of potable water per day (30 MLD) to the city’s network. The facility operates using a highly efficient dual-river system: the Lapu-Lapu River serves as the primary year-round source, while the Montible River acts as a strategic reserve, aggressively utilized during the dry season to ensure uninterrupted supply during peak summer months.
Beyond its massive volume capacity, the Lapu-Lapu WTP is equipped with an advanced Ultraviolet (UV) Disinfection System. This ensures that every drop of water distributed from the facility exceeds the stringent parameters set by the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW).
Today, the 30MLD WTP not only guarantees water security for tens of thousands of households and businesses but also serves as a premier benchmarking destination for other water districts, local government units, and student leaders across the country to study innovative and sustainable water treatment processes. As PPCWD celebrates a half-century of public service, this facility represents our enduring commitment to public health, environmental stewardship, and a water-secure future for Puerto Princesa.
