Puerto Princesa City Water District conducted its first-ever cloud seeding operation in the city as one of its major measures to mitigate the effects of the dry season.

Through the technical assistance from Fliteline Airways Inc., Bureau of Soils and Water Management, Philippine Air Force, PAGASA, and the City Government of Puerto Princesa through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, PPCWD successfully conducted the very first cloud seeding operations in the City. The operation started on May 10, 2019, and concluded on June 6, 2019, which lasted for 28 days, with a total of 37 sorties and consumed 490 bags of iodized salt. As per a report from the Bureau of Soils and Water Management which spearheaded the operation, the total success rate of the operation is recorded at 75.67%, higher compared to operations conducted in other provinces, and considering that it was the first cloud seeding operation.

The PPCWD Board of Directors and Management extended its gratitude and appreciation to those individuals who helped and assisted the District in the successful conduct of the Cloud Seeding Operation.
